Hello there!

My name is Annabelle and I appreciate you taking the time to read a little about me.

To give a quick summary, I am UX Designer and Researcher with multi-culture experience. I finished my undergraduate and postgraduate study in the UK. After that, I moved back to China and started my career as a UX researcher. After 3 years of working experience, I am currently pursuing another master’s degree in interaction design to expand my skills in the UX field.

My first job

My very first job was as a project assistant at an internet company that specialized in developing social media apps for the Southeast Asia and Middle East markets. When I first joined the team, they had just launched a brand new app, and I was tasked with facilitating communication between teams based in Beijing and Egypt. Despite the fast-paced work environment, I absolutely loved the experience of collaborating and communicating with individuals from diverse backgrounds. It was both challenging and rewarding, and I gained invaluable communication skills in the process.

Becoming UX researcher

Although my role as a project assistant was certainly challenging and taught me a lot, I always knew that my true passion lay in the field of User Experience. As such, I made the difficult decision to leave that position and pursue my dream career. Fortunately, I was able to secure a position as a UX research assistant at a securities company that was in the process of developing its own investment platforms for customers.

Over the course of my two years there, I was lucky enough to work with an exceptional mentor who provided me with guidance and support as I learned to master various research methods, design thinking skills, and how to effectively communicate with different stakeholders. During the time, I progressed from a research assistant to a mid-level UX researcher, ultimately leading my own research projects and mentoring other intern-level UX researchers. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have grown both personally and professionally.

Moving to Australia

In 2022, I made the decision to relocate to Australia and put down roots here. I enrolled in a Master's degree program in Interaction Design at the University of Sydney in order to expand my design skills and deepen my understanding of the field. Over the course of my studies, I gained valuable experience in UX and UI design, as well as programming. I am now actively seeking opportunities to put my skills to use in the form of an internship or full-time position as a UX Designer or Researcher. I am incredibly enthusiastic about embarking on this new chapter of my life and continuing to pursue my passion for UX.

Outside of Work

Cat

I have two lovely cats, 4-year-old MiaoMiao and 2-year-old DanDan. When I was in China, I also volunteered to help the stray cats in my community, conducted TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and helped them find adoptions.

Game

I enjoy playing different kinds of games. If you know any interesting games, please introduce them to me and I’d love to play!

Hiking

Walking in the nature can always relieve stress and anxiety. What I love about Australia is its beautiful landscape and numerous national parks!
